When Jim Marshall first went into business in 1962 with a small shop in Hanwell he was intent on simply selling drums, cymbals and drum-related accessories as well as giving the occasional drum lessons to locals. Legend has it that some of his clients at the shop encouraged him to start producing amplifiers. These clients included Pete Townshend, Ritchie Blackmore and Big Jim Sullivan. Three young musicians at the time who would themselves go on to great things. Needless to say Marshall amps went on to be a great success also and is now rightly considered a legendary British brand.
